VANDALIA, Ohio (WDTN) -- The total solar eclipse is three days away and Vandalia is making adjustments in anticipation of the event.
Firstly, the Vandalia Recreation Center will close early on Monday, April 8.
Scheduled programs and area hours will run as routine until 10:30 a.m., which is when the recreation center will close for the day.
While the recreation center is not the main venue for the eclipse, it will serve as a good secondary spot due to its convenient parking options and open outdoor areas.
In addition to the preparations being made at the recreation center, an official from the city of Vandalia states that the "no parking signs" currently lining Stonequarry Road are there to ensure that emergency service workers have room to traverse, if need be, on the day of the eclipse.
With the expected uptick in traffic on Monday, Stonequarry Road will be utilized as a primary route for EMS workers to travel through in case of an emergency.
